Fender Complete Guide: Stratocaster (Part One)

Fender, Guitar, Stratocastor, Electric, Guitar, Music, Musical, Instrument, Canada, Shop

Spring hasn't touched down in many parts of the world yet but it is already safe to say that Fender has had a revolutionary and successful 2013 thus far.  With the release of their new Fender Select line at NAMM 2013 and multiple other exciting releases (like this and this), Fender is taking complete reign and absolute control over the music making industry.

Our original plan was to do a round up of Fender's 2013 releases.   It's still in our plan but just a round up would not do this legendary brand justice.  Instead, we are going to be bring you a complete guide (in parts) to Fender Musical Instruments starting with their main act; the Fender Stratocaster.

The Fender Stratocaster (Short form: Strat) is an archetypal instrument.  This means that when any individual (regardless of music knowledge) thinks of an electric guitar; the sound, shape and design is usually that of a Strat.  Most people associate an electric guitar with Fender's Stratocaster.   If you don't believe us on how iconic this guitar really is, take a look at this picture of legendary musician Eric Clapton playing a Strat.

Fun Fact: The Fender Stratocaster was released in 1954 after Fender's Telecaster and Precision Bass.

Key Features

Body Shape and Contours

Stratocaster guitars have a sleek and balanced two-horn design, with well-placed forearm and body contours that make for a comfortable playing experience.

Pick ups

Stratocaster guitars feature a wealth of versatile pickup configurations, from the classic three single-coil design to powerful humbucking versions and more.

Neck and Fingerboard

Stratocaster guitars are known for comfortable and easily adjusted necks with a variety of profiles, eminently playable fingerboards and an unmistakable headstock.  The commonality between all Strats is that the back of the neck is always maple and the fretboard is either rosewood or maple.
